Volume 1 of The Artist Collective is about immersing yourself in the creative process without getting caught up in perfect results. You'll find lessons on gathering an inspired collection, sketching from life, color studies, collage, and more.
It's designed to get you experimenting, problem-solving, and finding your artistic rhythm. The goal is to help you enjoy making art again – to play, explore, and see where it takes you. Volume 2 of The Artist Collective centers around the art of still life, drawing inspiration from the vibrant, expressive work of Henri Matisse. This volume encourages you to slow down, observe, and find beauty in ordinary objects – transforming bowls of fruit, flowers, and textiles into compelling works of art. You'll explore creative lessons on curating and arranging still-life scenes, sketching from life, working with light and shadow, and experimenting with color. Whether gathering inspiration from your surroundings or diving into new techniques, this volume is designed to spark fresh ideas and deepen your connection to the creative process.

Volume 8 of The Artist Collective steps into the golden light of October, embracing the beauty of transformation. Inspired by the timeless work of Edgar Degas, this edition explores movement, form, and the quiet grace behind the art. Taking our inspiration from the theater, we will create a collection to capture the beauty and mystery of backstage at the ballet. We'll draw a Master Study of one of Degas' dancers in pastels, capturing his expressive lines and attention to the subtle elegance of the human form. In the spirit of Degas, this volume is about honoring the process—capturing the energy in small, unpolished moments and letting them guide your work. Whether sketching dancers or reflecting on the shift in seasons, Volume 8 invites you to celebrate the rhythm and flow of your creative practice.
The Artist Collective - Volume 9
Volume 9 of The Artist Collective invites you to embrace November's soft light and quiet beauty. As the days grow shorter, this edition focuses on capturing the delicate balance of shadow and light inspired by the luminous works of Joaquín Sorolla. Known as the "Master of Light," Sorolla's paintings celebrate fleeting moments—sunlit gardens, reflective water, and intimate portraits that feel alive with color and warmth.
I'll guide you through an abstract interpretation of one of Sorolla's iconic garden paintings, encouraging you to explore value, color, and movement more expressively. We will also create abstract landscapes in charcoal to better understand the power of value in our art. Additionally, we'll curate personal collections of black, white, and gray objects to deepen our awareness of tone and form.
Whether sketching by a window or reflecting on the beauty of autumn's final days, Volume 9 encourages you to slow down, observe, and let the subtle magic of light shape your creative process.
Volume 10 of The Artist Collective draws inspiration from the quiet beauty of winter. As the landscape settles into soft whites, cool pastels, and rich earthy tones, we're invited to gather the subtle treasures the season offers—bare branches, evergreen sprigs, cozy scarves, or chunky sweaters. Our first lesson will be to curate a collection of objects of beauty and nature that reflect the essence of winter. Inspired by our Winter Collection, I will demonstrate an abstract winter oil painting, embracing the season's textures and atmosphere.
Taking a lesson from Sargent's striking and expressive charcoal portraits, we will focus on gesture by creating a series of abstract studies in charcoal. Additionally, inspired by one of Sargent's sketches, I will attempt to master study one of his preliminary drawings for a painting.
Whether you're drawn to the softness of winter light or the rich textures of layered fabric, Volume 10 is about embracing the quiet elegance of the season and allowing it to shape your creative path.
